Creating The Ideal Workplace in 2024

Sam Newton
Co-founder

In the competitive landscape of today's job market, attracting and retaining top talent requires more than just offering a competitive salary. Companies need to provide a holistic package of perks and benefits that prioritise employee well-being, professional growth, and a positive work environment.

Gravitate Accounting understands this, we are breaking the mould of what you expect from accountants and wanting to create the best place to work in the region. Let's delve into what sets GravitateAccounting apart and why it's a desirable workplace for many professionals.

1. Competitive Pay and Benefits

At Gravitate Accounting, employees are valued and rewarded for their hard work and dedication. This starts with a competitive salary package that reflects market standards, ensuring that employees feel fairly compensated for their contributions. We have a document that sets out salary roles and bandings so people know what they will get paid at various levels and what they need to achieve to get there. As well as regular pay reviews, we have inflationary pay rises as no one should have less in realtime earnings then previous years.

We pay staff referral bonuses to help us recruit staff and bring in clients, we also pay an annual profit share bonus to reward the team for helping us hit our targets!

Additionally, the company offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes a pension plan, professional subscriptions, a company mobile phone, weekly Fitness truck sessions, free fruit, annual work trip away and a Pleo card for networking and client entertainment.

2. Emphasis on Health and Wellness

Recognising the importance of employee well-being, Gravitate Accounting goes the extra mile by offering weekly fitness truck sessions, providing employees with opportunities to stay active and prioritise their health. Flexible working arrangements further support work-life balance, allowing employees to tailor their schedules to fit their personal needs and commitments. Paid sick days ensure that employees can take time off when needed without worrying about their finances, contributing to a healthier and happier workforce and we work with Lights On Well-being to provide our team with specialist support from a emotional perspective.

3. Cultivating a Positive Work Culture

Our mantra on recruitment is we can recruit great people and train them to be amazing accountants but we can’t recruit great accountants and make them great people, for that reason we have the best team to work with. Regular team events and quarterly team awards foster a sense of camaraderie and recognition among employees. These gatherings not only provide opportunities for team building but also celebrate achievements and milestones, reinforcing a positive work culture where individuals feel valued and appreciated. Free fruit is provided as a small but meaningful gesture to promote healthy eating habits and overall well-being in the workplace.

4. Career Growth and Learning Opportunities

Gravitate Accounting is committed to supporting the professional development of its employees. Our accounting team are studying towards AAT / ACCA / ACA qualifications and we are also supporting our marketing executive to become a chartered marketer. We cover the cost and also pay for professional subscriptions. We are also rolling out a management training scheme to support our incredible accountants to also be great managers. Employees are empowered to take ownership of their career paths and pursue opportunities for advancement, one of our core values is to be bold encouraging our staff to operate entrepreneurially and help generate ideas to support Gravitate to continually improve.

5. Social Impact and Corporate Responsibility

Beyond its business objectives, Gravitate Accounting is dedicated to making a positive impact on the community. Over the last four years, the company has actively engaged in charity work, supporting various causes and initiatives that align with its values and mission. We have helped build a running club to bring business owners and employees together. By giving back to society, Gravitate Accounting demonstrates its commitment to social responsibility and inspires employees to contribute to meaningful causes.
